The Crow Collection of Asian Art is proud to present “Passport to Asia” during the 19th Annual Asian Festival to be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Dallas City Hall Plaza.
“Passport to Asia,” is designed as an interactive program that will allow children to experience the diverse cultures of Asia through different arts and craft projects. As each participant completes a project from a designated Asian country, he or she will get his or her “passport” stamped. Prizes will be presented upon completion.
Among the craft projects will be Japanese origami, Korean games, Vietnamese lanterns, Indonesian masks, Chinese calligraphy and South Asian henna.
“Passport to Asia” is being presented as part of the Crow Collection’s monthly “Family Days at the Crow” series which was created to allow families to experience a touch of Asia through cultural activities.
Besides “Passport to Asia” the Asian Festival will feature Lion dancers, martial arts, sumo wrestling and Japanese drummers.
Organized by the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce, the festival is sponsored by State Farm and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. This FREE event showcases authentic Asian cuisine, cultural entertainment and activities for children in a daylong festival celebrating the National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
The Asian Festival will be held for its 19th year on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 11am-5pm, at Dallas City Hall Plaza, 1500 Marilla Street, in downtown Dallas.
This fun, colorful and festive event will unite Asian cultures while creating a diverse marketplace featuring native arts & crafts, music, dance, food, martial arts and children’s activities.
