AdventureAsia: Family Days at the Crow Japanese Maple Festival Saturday, May 5 | 10AM – 2PM | Free Japanese Maple trees are known for their foliage which comes in many different shapes and colors. Take a tour of the trees of the Crow Collection, create works of art with natural and tree materials, practice your tree pose with Yogiños: Yoga for Youth and have your face painted like a blooming maple tree.
Art Activity: Origami Butterflies 10AM – 2PM In the spirit of upcycling, where materials of less value are transformed into something useful, learn to create your own butterfly out of recycled paper.
Art Activity: Growing Gardens 10AM – 2PM After touring our garden, decorate special seeded paper as you see your garden. Then take it home and watch it grow.
Art Activity: Japanese Hanging Koi 10AM – 2PM Make a colorful hanging Koinobori, or hanging carp banner, in celebration of Japan's Children's Day.
Toddler Table: Hand Print Lilies 10AM – 2PM Young children and toddlers can create their own lily using their hand prints and paper.
Granola Bar 10AM – 2PM Step up to the granola bar and create your own custom granola mix using healthy and delicious all natural ingredients like oats, dried fruits, and seeds. Supplies limited.
Story Telling: The Sticky Sticky Pine 10:30 AM Join us for a special story about a boy and a tree from the book Japanese Children’s Favorite Stories.
Garden Talk with the Trinity River Audubon Center 10:30AM Presented in partnership with the Trinity River Audubon Center Join educator Zeshan Segal from the Trinity River Audubon Center on a stroll through the Japanese garden and learn more about plants and wildlife and how to preserve them.
Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® Family Yoga Class 11AM Learn about healthy choices you can make for yourself, others, and the environment. Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® is a yoga for kids program in English, Spanish, and Sanskrit that aligns bodies, minds, hearts, and art.
Family Film: Earth Noon Take a journey across our plant in a spectacular film by Disney that tells a remarkable story about life on earth.
Face Painting for Children Noon – 1:30 PM Let the artists of Your Enchanted Face transform you into a living work of art! Face painting available on a first come, first served basis.
Family Tour: Trees of the Collection 12:30PM Join museum educators and travel across Asia on a tour that reveals the trees that can be found in the Crow Collection.
Tour of the Collection 1 PM Join Crow Collection docents for enlightened conversations in the galleries and take a tour of the different works of art found in the museum.
