- ('worthy one') a Buddhist saint who in life has fully realized selfless reality, thus being assured of nirvana after death, and who, like a bodhisattva, leads the way for believers.

- (royal city, from the Sanskrit nagara) current name for the site that functioned as the Khmer capital from the early tenth century to 1431, the date traditionally given for its abandonment.
