- USHNISHA
- (from Sanskrit for "that which is on top") the protuberance depicted on the top of the head of the Buddha; denotes great wisdom; one of the 32 lakshana by which the Buddha is recognized as a 'Great Person'.
- UMA
- an Indian mother-goddess and consort or shakti of the Hindu god Shiva; it is though that at the end of the current age (yuga), Shiva and Uma will manifest themselves to mankind.
- URNA
- tuft of hair between the eyebrows of the Buddha; one of the 32 lakshana by which the Buddha is recognized as a 'Great Person' (mahapurusha); the urna is rarely indicated in the art of Cambodia or Thailand.
